In JOE’s estimation, Kerry-born Sinn Féin politician Toiréasa Ferris is one of the hottest women in politics.
In February 2006, Toiréasa got the chance to boost her public profile with an appearance on The Late Late Show. However, her “knee-length” skirt hiked up every time she crossed her legs for the duration of her interview with Pat Kenny. RTÉ was sharply criticised for having their cameras pan her legs and skirt in the middle of the interview and creating a “tabloid” atmosphere and cheapening her appearance.
Ferris is currently a part-time tutor in law at Tralee Community College. She lives in Ardfert, County Kerry with her partner Patrick and their daughter.
We ran through the quick questionnaire with Toiréasa over the phone and these are the answers she came up with…
Do you use a Mac or a PC?
A laptop.
What kind of mobile phone do you use?
Nokia.
What type of car do you drive?
Renault Laguna.
Who are better drivers, men or women?
Men. Women kind of sit on the steering wheel and they hesitate too much.
Any sporting glories you like to brag about?
Unfortunately no.
What would be your ideal trip?
One that doesn’t involve too much physical exertion.
Most famous contact in your phone (politicians don’t count)?
Paul Galvin.
Whose office would you like to be a fly on the wall of?
Nicolas Sarkozy, if I could understand French.
What’s the most politically incorrect thing about you?
The fact that I said men are better drivers than women.
Finish the sentence, people are uninspired by most politicians because . . .
Do you have a year? Politics is fairly bleak in Ireland, there’s no inspiring figure there. There isn’t anything about politics in Ireland to get you excited. We have been let down so much by a plethora of politicians from all sides. And as this is a men’s website maybe I should say because their cup sizes are too small!
