Another day of darts at Blackpool and a long wait until the last at Leopardstown provide today’s ammunition to beat the bookies.
Steve Beaton had a surprise 10-3 win over Paul Nicholson in the first round of the World Matchplay Darts, but that was more down to a bad performance from the Aussie Geordie than a good performance from the Bronzed Adonis.
In the second round Beaton will face the greatest player who has ever picked up a dart – Phil Taylor. The Power averaged 115 against Barrie Bates in round one, while Beaton averaged a mere 89.75.
It all points to a trashing, and this is what JOE has gone for. Although optimistically, we have given Beaton two legs, and have gone for a 13-2 WIN FOR TAYLOR AT 8/1.
In racing, we think Michael Grassick’s BOULAY will bolt up in the last race at Leopardstown tonight.
Boulay should go well after a one-year break off the track and comes into this with solid form – running into the money on all three occasions last year. A winner over 1m 4f at Leopardstown, and two places on varying distances and ground conditions, Pat Smullen’s mount trades at around 8/1.
JOE’s Daily Double: Phil Taylor to beat Steve Beaton 13-2 @ (8/1) & Boulay (Leopardstown, 9.05 @ 8/1).
