Formula One Ferrari team-mates Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa cut forlorn figures after their controversial finish at the German Grand Prix in Hockenheim Sunday. Massa squandered his lead to allow team-mate Alonso to win the race, after he recieved coded headset orders from Ferrari race engineer Rob Smedley, who manipulated the race finish to protect Alonso’s standing in the F1 rankings. Ferrari have been fined $100,000 for their actions, though many are calling for the team to be banned for one or more races as a more fitting punishment.

Today JOE has been feeling…lucky.
The Galway Races start today and the JOE office is suited and booted, ready to shout at tiny men mounting horses and beating them senselessly in a couple of hours. We’ve all keeping our top tips close to our chest (erm, aside from here) and we’re all hoping to strike it lucky, or at least lucky enough to impress a few ridiculous hat-wearing ladies. Wish us all luck, not that we’ll need it or anything… but wish us luck all the same, please?
Tonight’s Telly
Pick of the night: Identity, UTV, 9.00pm.
If you haven’t caught up with of this British crime drama yet, there’s no excuse. Based on the increasingly relevant danger of identity theft, the drama is a fast-paced watch and exceptional by current Brit drama standards. Tonight we cross the half-way point of the six-part series, with Bloom (Aidan Gillen) is asked to surreptitiously retrieve a swab of DNA from businessman Bansi Dutta, who is about to buy a company using money belonging to the UK government, but has been accused of being an imposter.
Movie pick: Watchmen, Sky Movies Scifi & Horror, 9:00pm
It’s at least a half-hour too long, it’s got possibly the worst musical interlude during a love scene ever and yes, it has dollops of CGI blue penis, however Zack Snyder’s Watchmen is still a curious, sometimes dazzling achievement. After hitting the jackpot with his second feature, 300, Snyder somehow convinced Warner Bros to splash over $130m on a near-three hour violent retelling of the most fabled graphic novel of all time, which bar its ending, is almost completely uncompromised. We still think you should read the graphic novel beforehand to fully appreciate the level of effort and authenticity in Snyder’s adaptation, but either way Watchmen is a worthy night in. The always-watchable Jackie Earle Haley steals the show as the psychopathic anti-hero Rorschach.
