Day three of the Galway Races and we look to prolific trainer Dermot Weld to provide the goods in our daily double.

It’s been five years since Weld was in the winner’s enclosure after the Galway Plate but today he has a fantastic opportunity to be back there again with his leading chance MAJESTIC CONCORDE.

Producing a Plate winner is a rare thing and it will take every ounce of the 7-year-old’s might to come up the hill in front at Ballybrit this evening. He stretched his legs at Chester on the flat in May, finishing fourth of 17, but he won last time out over fences in Sligo last October.

Majestic Concorde trades at 9/2 in the highly competitive www.thetote.com Galway Plate Handicap Chase over 2m 6f with 25 runners going to post at 5.25.

You will need to wait for the last race at Ballybrit to score this double and we’ve sided for another Dermot Weld-trained animal by the name of DUC DE SAVOIE.

Pat Shanahan takes the mount for Weld’s secondary runner in the Tote Return All Profits To Racing Maiden over 1m at 7.10. The bay gelding has the advantage of being on the track five times already compared to market leader and stablemate Unaccompanied.

Duc De Savoie, priced up at around 9/2, has been in the money on four of those five occasions and his experience should shave it from the raw looking Unaccompanied.
