Galway Day 3 as it happened

Dermot Weld made it nine winners so far after Day 3, while Fingeronthepulse came good in the plate at 22/1 with Tony McCoy on the saddle.

JOE

Wrap Up:

Dermot Weld continues to lord it at Ballybrit, with Unaccompanied justifying the favourites tag in the last to make it nine winners after Day 3. JP McManus’ Fingeronthepulse was the big winner of the day, however, coming in at a massive 22/1 in the big one, the 5.25 Galway Plate. We’ll be back for Ladies Day tomorrow and after some outstanding tipping today, would you dare bet against us tomorrow? We promise we won’t be distracted by the fine fillies (the human kind) on display, honest! Until then.

19:25

Would you believe it lads, yet another win for Dermot Weld, his ninth of the festival so far. That’s it for the day, Ladies Day to look forward to tomorrow…meeowww!

7.10 Galway – Result

1. Unaccompanied 13/8 fav.

2. Barrow Island 7/4

3. Born to Excel 9/2

1840:

6.35 Galway – Result

1. New Magic 4/1 2f
2. FlameoftheForest 7/1
3. Snap Alam 6/1

1814:

Eight winners for Dermot Weld this week so far. Two races left this afternoon. The next is the 6.35 with Yes Missus the 5/2 favourite. New Magic should be in with a shout.

1804:

6.00 Galway – Result

1. Rock Critic 7/2f
2. Quench the Flame 10/1
3. All in Clover 7/1
4. Dinah Doll 20/1

1748:

Three races left lads. I like the look of Peculiar Prince in this next one. He’s trading at 9/1 currently, while Weld has the favourite again – Rock Critic at 4/1.

1739:

The JP McManus-owned, Tony McCoy-ridden, Tom Taffe-trained Fingeronthepulse has won the Galway Plate in a fantastic finish with Themoonandsixpence, who finished in second place. The Dermot Weld favourite Majestic Concorde came third.

1735:

5.25 Galway Plate – Result

1. Fingeronthepulse 22/1
2. Themoonandsixpence 7/1
3. Majestic Concorde 3/1

1723:

Minutes away now. Plenty of support for my selection Majestic Concorde, 3/1 from 4/1. But the gamble of the race is definitely Bringbackthebiff, 10/1 from 16/1.

1707:

The Plate is on the way. The Galway one that is. You’ve got about 20 minutes to throw on a bet before the off.

1653:

4.45 Galway – Result:

1. Endless Intrigue 11/8f
2. Pozyc 5/2
3. Stoned Immacula 66/1

1641:

Patrick Mullins can do the trick on Pozyc in the 4.45 up next. He’s up against short-priced favourite Endless Intrigue.

1633:

The big one is coming up after the next. I’ve given you the last two winners at very decent prices. I’m confident Majestic Concorde can do the business for Dermot Weld in the feature event.

The comments are starting to come in on the back of my winners I see.

“Two winners in the last two races William! Bravo sir.” – from Doyler.

“Where are you getting your inside info William? The big question is, did you have a few pound on yourself?” – from Damo, Ennis.

Cheers Doyler. Well Damo, I can’t reveal my sources and yes I speculated a few euro. Not enough to pack in the day job though.

1621:

Boom! That’s two from two lads. Am I supposed to stay in the office now? There is a stewards enquiry but I can’t see the result being reversed. Super ride from Carberry.

4.10 Galway – Result:

1. Hoopy 8/1
2. King of Redfield 7/1
3. Sunwake 9/1
4. Duroob 9/1

1603:

The 4.10 is next up on the card. It’s a three mile hurdle with plenty in with chances. Again there’s lots of value to be had and I’m on Gordon Elliott’s Hoopy for this one. Paul Carberry should be able to steer him into a place – worst case scenario.

Your Busy is the 6/1 favourite for the third race.

1554:

1542:

Winner alright, winner alright. Did you follow us?

3.35 Galway – Result:

1. Novel Investment 11/1
2. Mr Bones 13/2f
3. Dashing Ruby 10/1
4. Miss Pepperpot 20/1

1528:

The next race, the 3.35, looks a wide open affair with Mr Bones heading the market at 7/1. It’s 8/1 bar that. We like the look of Novel Investment in this one. One of the lads has legged it out of JOE Towers to stick a few quid each-way on him for the lot of us.

1504:

3.00 Galway – Result:

1. Ballyadam Brook 2/1jf
2. Final Day 2/1jf

1455:

Going down at Galway for the first. Joint favourites now, Ballyadam Brook and Final Day, both at 2/1.

1438:

Less than half an hour to the off in the first at Ballybrit. The weather is holding up just fine. Want to look back at last year’s Galway Plate? Click here to watch.

1347:

The first race is a 2 mile Novices’ Hurdle at 3.00pm. Final Day heads up the market currently at 11/8 with Ballyadam Brook available at 11/4 generally.

A major market mover is New Magic at 6.35pm. He’s been punted on from 10/1 into 6/1. Fran Berry takes the ride, interesting.

1322:
A fine pair of fillies at the Galway Races on Monday
1318:

Yes it’s promised to be an exciting day at Ballybrit today and if you’re unable to get away from the office do stay with us for updates on what’s happening at the festival.
