Celtic are all but out of the Champions League after slumping to a 3-0 away defeat to Portuguese runners-up Braga in the third qualifying round.

Braga’s first goal came from a controversial penalty, converted by Alan, when Ki Sung-Yeung was deemed to have handled the ball in the box in the 26th minute.

“I would like to see the penalty again,” Neil Lennon said. “I thought the officials were not great from our side of the fence.”

Elderson doubled the Portuguese sides lead in the 76th minute, before Matheus added to the Glasgow side’s misery with a great free-kick with two minutes left on the clock.

“We lost the first goal to a pretty controversial decision and the goals in the second half from a corner kick and a free-kick were very disappointing but I certainly don’t feel the tie is over,” Lennon added.

“We have been in this situation before and we’ve a good record at home. We must give it a right go. We’ll be drawing on the experience of how we nearly turned it around against Bratislava.”

The return leg takes place at Celtic Park on 4 August.
