Mohamed Al-Fayed couldn’t resist a dig at Roy Hodgson as he unveiled Mark Hughes as the new Fulham manager yesterday.
Al-Fayed accused Hodgson of  “taking advantage†of Fulham but insisted that he had forgiven the new Liverpool boss as he believes Mark Hughes is a better manager anyway.
“We gave him (Hodgson) all the support, we believed in him and he just let us down. It’s no problem because Mark is much better. He has a great team and we had some fantastic results.”
“Hodgson intermitted a great team which had fantastic results but unfortunately this guy, after we put him where he is now, he took advantage and left us. But good luck to him, good luck to Liverpool.”
“This other guy let us down and just walked away. But we have a nice guy now. Don’t mention Roy Hodgson any more.
“He (Hughes) is a nice guy. He is much better looking and I am sure that he will do a great job. I am sure that there will be no complications. We have a great managing director and chief executive and we’re happy to have someone like Mark in place.”
“Hughes is the man in charge. He’s much better than the previous one. I am sure he’s going to do a great job. He knows what he’s doing. Fulham’s a wonderful club.
“I’m sure Hughes is going to win us the championship.â€
