Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard was full of praise for Liverpool’s new signing Joe Cole after his performance against FK Rabotnicki in the Europa League.
Joe Cole received a standing ovation from Liverpool fans, which Gerrard believed he absolutely deserved.
“Our fans pay good money to see us play good football and I thought Joe was brilliant in his first game at Anfield,” Gerrard told Liverpool’s offical website.
“I’m sure there’s plenty more trickery for our fans to see from him in the future.
“The fans here appreciate Joe is a good player who will create goals and score them. They also saw a different side to his game tonight as his work rate was phenomenal and we need more of that.
“We are hoping this will be a successful season for the club and I’m sure Joe will enjoy it here and have a big part to play.
“I know Joe is enjoying his Liverpool career so far. He wants success and so do we, and hopefully we will get that in the future,†he added.
