‘GP who fondled patient’s breasts when she only went to see him about a broken finger could be struck off’

The Daily Mail reports this morning on the case of Rotherman GP Dr Parag Bhatt, 46, and his incredibly gullible patients. The family doctor faces being struck off after being found guilty of serious professional misconduct – namely, fondling the breasts of six patients. In only one of the cases was there a medical need to examine the patient’s breasts.

According to the Mail, Bhatt began harassing his patients between January and September 2009. The paper goes on to state that in one incident the doctor ‘placed both his hands on the breasts of his victim, shook them and then began breathing heavily.’

A disciplinary panel yesterday concluded that Bhatt’s actions were ‘sexually motivated’ in relation to his patients, and were a ‘gross abuse’ of the trust patients had placed in him. The UK’s General Medical Council is expected to decide the disgraced doctor’s fate later today.
