Kilkenny haven’t ruled out the possibility that injured star Henry Shefflin might play a part in this year’s All-Ireland final.
The nine time All-Star was diagnosed with a severed cruciate ligament injury in his knee on Tuesday after being forced out of the Cats’ victory over Cork on Sunday. The injury normally requires something in the region of nine months to recover from fully.
According to today’s Irish Times, however, Shefflin has attended Ger Hartmann’s injury clinic in Limerick in recent days with a view to taking some part in the final on September 5.
The cruciate ligament is one of four major ligaments in the knee and it is hoped that, if the rest of the knee is undamaged, that Shefflin might play a part against the winners of this weekend’s clash between Tipperary and Waterford.
