Northern Ireland star Rory McIlroy finished tied for third in the USPGA Championship, as Germany’s Martin Kaymer went on to win the major following a three-hole play-off with American Bubba Watson.
McIlroy had a share of the lead with just four holes remaining in the final round of the championship at Kohler, Wisconsin but the Holywood player bogeyed the 15th and failed to hole a birdie putt on the last.
McIlroy finished on 72 for the day before and tied with Zach Johnson for third place before Kaymer and Watson battled it out in a play-off.
Kaymer actually won with a bogey on the 18th as his opponent hit the flag with a chip and only mustered a double bogey.
