For today’s Daily Double, we like the look of a Jim Bolger horse in Killarney and think it will be men against boys in the Champions League.
In racing, Killarney is the stand alone Irish meet today and Jim Bolger’s runner SAOI looks the pick of the bunch in the 6.00pm, Easy Clean Ltd. Handicap for three-year-olds.
He was an impressive debut winner at Gowran Park last month and looks very well treated on his handicap debut. Kevin Manning takes the ride, while the Pat Smullen/Dermot Weld runner Palm Ridge poses the main threat.
Saoi is a generous 5/1 chance for the third race on the card at Killarney this evening.
Tottenham’s pairing with Swiss side Young Boys in the Champions League was the source of much excitement in JOE HQ, not only because it represented Spurs’ first foray into Europe’s premier club competition for the first time since the 1961/62 season, but it also gave the witty journalists within the chance to come up with some imaginative puns. Some were good, some were lame, but all were downright unprintable.
But we digress. Redknapp’s boys looked the part in their opening Premier League fixture on Saturday lunchtime and if it wasn’t for a superhuman performance from Joe Hart in Manchester City’s goal, they would definitely have opened the season with a convincing win.
We fancy them to hit the net tonight though, against a side that have been in dismal form domestically with only one win from their opening five matches. It won’t be a rout, but it should be a comfortable victory nonetheless.
A 2-0 victory for Tottenham Hotspur can be backed at 7/1.
