19/08 JOE’s Daily Double

JOE

The JOE pundits are a realistic bunch and we’ll freely admit that our pockets haven’t exactly been bulging lately. Today we’re relying on Tony McCoy and Manchester City to get us back on track.

There’s only one man to get us out of a rut and that’s Tony McCoy. He’s in Fontwell this evening and his best chance of a winner comes in the form of a Tim Vaughan chaser by the name of LORDS BRIDGE in the 7.30.

It’s a very uncompetitive looking 2m 6f, Class 5 event and if McCoy can’t steer the top weight home in front there will be something seriously amiss. Lords Bridge is working his way back after a long break from the track and, with a few stamina building exercises under his belt, this contest looks ideal to get back to winning ways.

At 15/8 McCoy’s mount in the 7.30 at Fontwell is there for the taking.

Manchester City’s star-studded squad head to Romania this evening for a Europa League qualifying clash against a club that sound vaguely like a dessert – FC Timisoara.

Timisoara are something like the Manchester City of the Romanian League, with owner Marian Iancu plunging over £30 million into the club, while there are rumours that the players will earn bonuses of up to £80,000 a man if they can knock out their more illustrious opponents.

A club that finished fifth in the Romanian League last season, however, will have their work out trying to stop Tevez, Balotelli, Silva and company and we reckon that unlike Spurs on Tuesday night, City can finish the job and make the second leg at Eastlands little more than a procession.

City are 4/7 for the win, but for a little more value, try them at an alternative handicap bet of -2 goals, meaning that they have to win by three goals or more, which can be backed at 4/1.

JOE’s Daily Double: Lords Bridge (Fontwell, 7.30 @ 15/8) and Manchester City to beat FC Timisoara alternative handicap betting (-2.0) at 4/1.
