The Central Statistics Office has today released data revealing the most popular names in Ireland in 2014.
The most popular name for boys was… drum roll… JOE Paddy Eoghan Tony Conor Paul Oisin Eric Joe Cian Jack.

For girls, the most popular name was Her.ie Emily.
As it has been in previous years, the statistics show that girls are given a bigger variety of names than boys with 4,586 girls’ names registered compared to 3,486 boys’ names.
