A really nice story.
It seems that no matter where you go in the world, the chances are that you’ll bump into a person of Irish heritage but I’m fairly certain that Corkonian Tara Copplestone and her friends didn’t expect to meet Michael ‘Lord of the Dance’ Flatley during a recent visit to Central Park, NYC.
In Tara’s own words ” I’m originally from Cork but living in New York for the past year and a half – and my best friends all surprised me and came to New York this week for thanksgiving. Strolling in Central Park yesterday morning- we spotted the fine high jig himself Michael Flatley out for a morning run. We ran after him shouting ‘We are from Cork!’ and he stopped and couldn’t have been a nicer man – introduced himself and chatted away with us’.

The story gets better though because as Tara says “he then offered us all free tickets to go to his Lord of The Dance show that night on Broadway- which we happily accepted! Front row seats and had some laugh. We never got to see him afterwards but he made my friends’ holiday! Michael Flatley is a gas man!”.
Here’s a few images of the girls enjoying their night out on Broadway.

I think you’ll agree that there’s something a little bit extra-special about those situations when everyday people like Tara just randomly meet some “famous” faces but it’s great to see that Michael Flatley is such a nice man because eh didn’t have to go out of his way to look after some of his fans.
Cheers to Tara Copplestone who sent this story into us. If you have a photo, video or story you think we’d like, send it to us on Twitter, Facebookor editorial@JOE.ie.
