PIC: UFC’s Cathal Pendred is urging Irish men to stand against domestic abuse

JOE

UFC fighter Cathal Pendred is putting his support behind SAFE Ireland’s MAN UP campaign and urging everybody to do their part in stopping domestic abuse.

Pendred, who has won 17 fights in his career, approached SAFE Ireland, the national organisation for domestic violence services, to see if there was anything he could do to help.

Domestic violence is something he is proud to stand up against and do whatever he can to prevent it happening. He is asking others to join him. As he says: “Each of us has our unique set of strengths. But we have one common power – to stand against domestic violence.”

The infographic below demonstrates just how bad the problem is.

These statistics are shocking and something has to be done to change this worrying trend.

The Man Up campaign is about one simple but powerful thing: men showing pride and leadership, challenging abuse & violence, and supporting women & children. It’s about making Ireland a safer place for women and children. It’s something everybody should get behind because the above statistics just aren’t good enough.
