Video: Radio station RedFM unite the people of Cork to make this amazing family’s Christmas

This is lovely.

This is lovely.

Emmett O’Callaghan and his family in Cork are set to have the best Christmas ever after local radio station Cork’s RedFM came to the rescue.

The station ran a competition called Christmas Covered where they got businesses from all over the city and county to donate hampers and gifts which went to a deserving listener.

Emmett was nominated for the prize by his sister Emer who says Emmett became a father figure for her and her other brother when their dad died.

Emer went on to say that Emmett woke her up every morning, brushed her hair, made their lunches and held her hand as they walked to school. What a great guy.

Emmett and his family have also had to bounce back from their house being burned down in the recent past so the O’Callaghans are well deserving of the prize.

RedFM didn’t make it straightforward though as they staged live on-air interview finale with Emmett and one other fake finalist.

Emmett ‘lost’ the competition and headed home where waiting for him was the surprise of his life. This is class.
