Brendan Gleeson’s new Australia-based film Mr. Cranky sounds like it’s going to be class

We’re definitely going to be watching this.

The Gleeson family is doing the country proud of late, with sons Domhnall and Brian starring in a host of quality films, and now the main man Brendan looks to be appearing in another really interesting flick.

Empire has reported that the legendary Irish actor will play the lead in another dark comedy, Mr. Cranky.

Gleeson is to play Kevin Darcy; an intimidating and short-tempered crime boss who enforces debt repayment, and who suddenly becomes a single dad when his ex-girlfriend is killed.

He then has to adapt his life to becoming a doting father, but despite moving to Australia’s Gold Coast, he still doesn’t quit the day job.

Mr. Cranky will be directed by Jonathan Teplitzky, helmer of The Railway Man, and filming will begin in September of this year in Melbourne.

We can’t wait.
