Daddy's home

JOE

The new Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg movie, Daddy’s Home, is making waves as one of the funniest movies to hit cinemas in recent years.

And we are not even slightly surprised. Just take a look at the trailer, it looks pretty darn hilarious.

After seeing the film, we started scratching our noggins here in JOE HQ asking ourselves ‘who are the greatest dads in movie history?’

Here’s what we’ve come back with…

Mrs. Doubtfire

Sure, dressing up as a Scottish Grandmother to deceive your wife into letting you see your kids isn’t the most honest of tactics. Nonetheless, Robin Williams infamous creation gets into our list on effort alone.

Homer Simpson

The one and the only. Homer’s reputation as the ‘every-dad’ was cemented long before The Simpson’s Movie hit our screens.

The American Pie series wouldn’t have been the same without this awkward, yet knowledgeable father.

Ted Kramer

Kramer vs Kramer is a beautiful film featuring Dustin Hoffman playing a loving father who is fighting for the custody of his son. It also contains the most famous ‘learning to ride a bike’ scene in movie history.

Bryan Mills

Brian Mills, from the Taken series, will do anything for his daughter. And if you get in his way, ‘he will find you and he will kill you.’

Dr. Henry Jones

Indiana Jones’ father was always going to be a charming, intelligent man. Step up former James Bond, Sean Connery. From the very moment he appeared on screen, it was clear he would be perfect for the role.

Vito Corleone

The Godfather’s methods weren’t always ‘legal’ but there’s no doubting his love for his son Michael.

“Mac” McGuff

JK Simmons is Juno’s understanding, wise cracking father… a far cry from the a*se he played in Whiplash.

Jack Byrnes

Roberto De Niro is perfect as the over protective dad in Meet The Parents. He’s not too fond of Gaylard Focker and he’s not afraid to show it.
