JOE has you covered for all the latest breaking news, images and trailers…

Football fans have the World Cup, GAA fans have the Championship, music fans have festivals and comic book fans have Comic-Con.

The famous 4 day event is a mecca for people that want to get a glimpse of upcoming films, comic-books, games and basically every single type of geeky paraphernalia that you can imagine.

If you were unable to pay for the airline fare or rent a Chewbacca costume, then JOE’s guide to the best of Comic-Con (so far) is just for you.

A few days ago, we brought you the first image of big baddie Ultron in the new Avengers film and there has also been some new artwork released featuring Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow and new character Scarlet Witch.

It was a busy day for some of the Marvel characters with news that the Spiderman villains will have their own standalone film. The web slinger will have his work cut out battling the ‘Sinister Six’ , however JOE has a feeling that he will be ok.

Other films that were announced included ; Pirates of the Caribbean 5 (please god make it stop), Painkiller Jane and a new mystery film from Marvel.

A more immediate release though is Peter Jackson’s third instalment in The Hobbit Trilogy, The Battle of the Five Armies.

JOE has had mixed feelings on the films so far but this one should be fantastic because it features battles, dragons, necromancers, goblins, wargs, dwarves, elves, men and giant eagles. Hurray!

Moving on and Edgar Wright may have left the film but JOE is still very excited to see what Marvel and Paul Rudd have in store with their take on Ant-Man.

For those who may not know, Ant-Man has the ability to shrink and grow in scale, which comes in handy for con-man Scott Lang (Rudd) who has to help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) protect the secret behind his super suit from a new generation of towering threats.

Marel haven’t steered us wrong so far and their first poster is a winner in our opinion.

From one character that you probably can’t see because he is so small, to to one that we definitely want to see.

Tom Hardy has already conquered the comic book world with his impressively bulky take on Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, but the talented actor is set to play another iconic hero.

Mad Max: Fury Road is the fourth film of George Miller’s Road Warrior/Mad Max franchise and Hardy plays the man of few words, as he seeks vengeance and peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child.

JOE are big fans of Tom Hardy’s work and the supporting cast for this one also looks impressive, with Charlize Theron (in full on Ripley mode), Nicholas Hoult and the aesthetically-pleasing Rosie Huntington-Whiteley co-starring.

Chris Pratt is a busy man this summer having starred in the superb Guardians of the Galaxy (JOE was lucky to see it already and we can safely say that it’s one of the best films of the year) but the Parks and Recreation star will also be starring in the upcoming Jurassic World.

The first poster for this was just released and here it is for your viewing pleasure.

The talented director Neill Blomkamp’s is back offering us up a slice of sci-fi pie in his next film Chappie, which is apparently more of a comedy than District 9 and Elysium.

The film sees the title character kidnapped at birth by two gangsters and becoming the adopted son of a strange, dysfunctional family.

Oh did we mention that Chappie is a robot and that Hugh Jackman, Sigourney Weaver and Sharlto Copley are starring. We’re in.

Keep an eye on JOE throughout the week because we will be bringing you all the latest news from Comic-Con as the event unfolds.
