There are some excellent films on later.
Having a lazy Saturday in front of the TV? Well, we’re here to sort out the best films on the box.
This being said, if you’re heading along to the cinema, there’s plenty to enjoy including The Nun, Black 47, and American Animals, and we reviewed them all in the latest episode of The Big Reviewski, which you can listen to right here.
Anyways, let’s dive in and see what’s good on the TV tonight.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone – 17:50 ITV 1
It’s the start of a Harry Potter eight-week marathon. No better chance to relive the magic.
Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol – 21:00 E4
Tom Cruise doing Tom Cruise stuff. The scenes at the Moscow prison, Kremlin and the Burj Khalifa are all excellent.
The Fugitive – 21:00 ITV4
“I didn’t do it. I don’t care” Impossible not to think of that scene with Milhouse in The Simpsons though. Still, it’s a wonderful thriller.
Spotlight- 21:00 BBC2
A brilliant Oscar-winning film that’s eerily poignant to Ireland. Mark Ruffalo’s speech alone is worth giving it a watch.
This Is the End – 21:00 Dave
Michael Cera being a douche, Rihanna meeting a violent end, and Jonah Hill’s, erm, encounter with a horny dick devil. It’s an absolute riot.
Gladiator – 22:30 Channel 4
Often imitated, never bettered. “My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius….” You know the rest.
Drive – 23:00 BBC2
Ryan Gosling channels his inner ‘Man with No Name’ in this artsy and inventive thriller. The soundtrack kicks ass and the opening chase is brilliantly executed. As for that scene in the lift…
The Client – 23:25 BBC1
Remember when studios used to make really good legal thrillers?
