New directors and films on the agenda
I’m currently grappling with what film franchise I should write about first, such is my love for Batman and Star Wars. Ah feck it, the force has always had a Darth Vader like stranglehold on me.
Star Wars fans are eagerly anticipating J.J Abrams’ upcoming Episode VII: The Force Awakens while the plot for Gareth Edwards’ Rogue One looks like it could be a blast but there’s more going on in the galaxy.
If you loved Jurassic World then you’ll be happy to hear that the director of that dynamite dino-film, Colin Trevorrow, is set to be announced as the man that’s going to helm Episode IX.
Heroic Hollywood have reported that Lucasfilm are set to unveil the director in front of an adoring crowd at Hall H and he seems like a solid appointment to me.
Trevorrow has competition for the biggest directorial announcement of the weekend though after Deadline have announced that Ben Affleck will be directing and staring in a new series of Batman films.
Batfleck of course is already the man behind the cape and cowl in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice but the good people at Warner Brothers also think that he’s the man to take The Dark Knight forward in his standalone adventures.
Affleck has proven himself to be a skilled director with Gone Baby Gone, The Town and Argo but Christopher Nolan’s shoes are big one to fill. This could be very interesting.

From one superhero with issues to another that makes Batman seem like he’s an overly happy teenage girl who’s playing with a kitten. It appears that Wesley Snipes will be returning to the franchise that made him a star, no it’s not Demolition Man, but Blade will be coming back.
I knew that ‘some motherfu**ers are always trying to ice-skate up-hill’ but Snipes seems like he’s eager to kick some vampire ass once again.
Snipes says “the project is controlled by Marvel and we did have a really productive and a wonderful meeting and we discussed a number of things. I don’t know where it’s on their schedule at this point, that hasn’t been decided. I guess it’s still up in the air.
I’ve always been a fan of these pieces and adaptations and I’d be nice to be a part of the family again. But if we don’t to a ‘Blade 4’ or something else with Marvel, we’ll do something else.”
