To paraphrase Thor: “More superheroes, Rabbit!”
At present, so many of the heroes in the MCU that we all know and love are just dust in the wind.
It’s ok though. We reckon that Paul Rudd, sorry, erm, Ant-Man, is going to come along and fix everything via the quantum realm and a little bit of time travel.
Ok, Captain Marvel is also probably going to have some say in reversing Thanos’ fatal finger snap too, but as we saw in the trailer for Avengers: Endgame, Iron Man is currently floating across space with Nebula, Thanos is chilling on his farm, the surviving Avengers are all brooding, and Hawkeye is now the badass Ronin.
Suddenly, Paul Rudd rocks up and steals the show…because he’s Paul Rudd.
Anyways, as things currently stand, Marvel are going to need some new heroes to replace those beloved dust bunnies that we call Black Panther, Peter Quill, Spider-Man etc (we know, we know. They’re all coming back) but the upcoming merger with Fox will give Disney actual control of the universe.
Like, the Infinity Gauntlet is cool and all, but Disney will legitimately control the universe when their merger with Fox goes through.
For example, Deadpool, Fantastic Four and X-Men are all set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe and speaking at the Golden Globes, Kevin Feige revealed that there’s going to be many more superheroes coming under the Marvel banner.
“There are hundreds of names on those agreements and the fact that Marvel is as close as we may ever get now to having access to all of the characters is something I’ve been dreaming about for my almost 20 years at Marvel. It’s very exciting,” said Feige.
Aside from this, it appears that the ball is already rolling on a standalone Silver Surfer film with Adam McKay (Anchorman, Step Brothers, The Big Short, Vice) expressing an interest in the project.
Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: Far From Home, X-Men: Dark Phoenix, Glass, The New Mutants.
It’s fair to say that 2019 is going to be a very good year for comic book fans but it’s just an appetiser for what’s in store.
Take a look.
