Anyone up for the cinema?
May is here and, although the days are getting longer, they’re not getting much warmer.
You could stick on an extra couple of jumpers to keep warm or, like us, you could head to the cinema (where they’ve got lovely central heating) to check out some of the great new films that are released this month.
Here are the best movies you can catch in the cinema this May
Bad Neighbours 2
Release date: May 6th
Plot: After a sorority moves in next door, which is even more debaucherous then the fraternity before it, Mac and Kelly have to ask for help from their former enemy, Teddy.
Go see it because: Fans of the original are unlikely to be disappointed with this effort, because unlike previous comedy sequels that have vastly deviated from the plot of the original – The Hangover, Dumb and Dumberer coming to mind – the writers obviously aren’t tampering with a winning formula.

Knight Of Cups
Release date: May 6th
Plot: A writer indulging in all that Los Angeles and Las Vegas has to offer undertakes a search for love and self via a series of adventures with six different women.
Go see it because: Films that are directed by Terrence Malick don’t come around too often, this will be only the seventh film that the reclusive genius has helmed. If that’s not enough to make you buy a ticket then the Oscar winning trio of Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett and Natalie Portman most certainly will.

Cabin Fever

Everybody Wants Some!!
Release date: May 13th
Plot: A group of college baseball players navigate their way through the freedoms and responsibilities of unsupervised adulthood.
Go see it because: Very few directors can be relied upon to constantly create something that’s entertaining, original and personal – hallmarks of indie maverick Richard Linklater. Dazed and Confused, Boyhood, and School of Rock are just some of the wonderful films in his back catalogue and we’ve high hopes for his latest effort.

A cracking plot, double crossing, political intrigue and some very strong performances. Ewan McGregor, Damian Lewis, Stellan Skarsgård and Naomie Harris all star.

Free State Of Jones

Plot: As civil war divides the nation, a poor farmer from Mississippi leads a group of rebels against the Confederate army.

Money Monster
Release date: May 27th
Plot: In the taut and tense thriller Money Monster, Lee Gates (George Clooney) is a bombastic TV personality whose popular financial network show has made him the money wiz of Wall Street. But …
Go see it because: The Big Short was a terrific account of the negligence and greed that instigated the recent financial collapse, but the issue is calling out for a stinging /satire drama that’s in the mould of Network or Dog Day Afternoon.
Jodie Foster’s film looks like it has tried to emulate those classics.

Release date: May 30th
Plot: The Turtles return to save the city from a dangerous threat. WWE star Sheamus will be playing Rocksteady – the mutant rhinoceros who serves as a henchman of the Shredder – while Megan Fox, William Fichtner and Laura Linney.
Go see it because: This really depends on how you felt about the original which was dumb, but fun at times. There’s no denying that kids will absolutely love seeing Leonardo, Michelangelo, Rafael and Donatello up on the big screen.

Warcraft: The Beginning
Release date: May 30th
Plot: An epic fantasy/adventure based on the popular video game series.
Go see it because: One of the most popular video game sagas of all-time gets its own movie adaptation. If the epic scope of the trailer didn’t blow you away then the pedigree of its director might. As you may know, Duncan Jones is the remarkably talented director of Moon and Source Code, and he seems like the perfect for this material.
