Outdoor cinemas throughout Ireland will air some stonewall classic movies this summer

Conor Heneghan

Fingers crossed the weather holds up.

Fans of outdoor cinema and of classic movies will be excited to hear about the return of Happenings’ Summer Cinema in three venues throughout Ireland over the summer months.

On Thursday, Happenings, in association with 7 Up, announced the return of summer cinema in Dublin, Cork and Kilkenny between now and June 1, with the promise of more events to be announced in the near future.

If news of the events actually taking place wasn’t enough, then Happenings couldn’t have picked three better movies for an open-air broadcast.

On May 18, there will be a screening of Back to the Future in Merrion Square, followed by a screening of Lethal Weapon in Fitzgerald’s Park in Cork on May 20 and The Big Lebowski in St. Kieran’s College in Kilkenny on June 1.

Tickets to all three events cost only €5 and there will entertainment at all three venues in and around the screening, including a Q&A with comedian Dom Irrera, who played Tony, ahead of the screening of The Big Lebowski in Kilkenny next month.
