PIC: Based on its incredible Rotten Tomatoes rating, you need to see Brooklyn immediately

Very high praise

Conor Heneghan

That is if you haven’t seen it already, of course.

If you’re a movie fan, you’re probably well aware of the Rotten Tomatoes website.

As well as carrying reviews from established critics, it allows critics and movie fans alike to rate a movie out of 100 so that when people visit the website, they can get a rounded view on a movie and decide for themselves whether they want to watch it or not.

Brooklyn, based on a novel by Irish writer Colm Tóibín, directed by John Crowley and starring Saoirse Ronan and Domhnall Gleeson, has only just been released in cinemas and is already attracting rave reviews, but its current status on Rotten Tomatoes speaks volumes for how popular it is.

Out of 93 ratings from critics, for example, it currently has a 99% rating, with only one of those 93 critics failing to give it a ‘fresh’ rating of over 60%.

Furthermore, because it has been given a rating of over 75% by at least 40 critics, it has also garnered a sought-after ‘Certified Fresh’ rating. Very high praise indeed.

Some films, of course, are loved by the critics and not by the public but that’s not the case here; the audience rating stands at an impressive 91%, based on over 7,000 reviews.

You can check out how Brooklyn compares with the top 100 rated movies on Rotten Tomatoes and for an even greater insight into the making of the movie, have a look at our interviews with star of the movie Saoirse Ronan and director John Crowley.

We also talked about it in The Big Reviewski as well.

Great to hear Brooklyn getting some well-deserved kudos. Seriously, go and see it as soon as possible.
