The Queen of Ireland has achieved the highest opening weekend ever at the box office for an Irish made documentary.
JOE sat down with the star and the director of the film that chronicles the fascinating life of a gay man growing up in rural Ireland, along with capturing one of the most historic days in the country’s history; the Marriage Equality Referendum.
Rory O’Neill, aka Panti Bliss, and director Conor Horgan can also celebrate the fact that The Queen of Ireland is the third highest (non-concert) documentary opening of all-time, as seen in this chart provided by Universal Pictures International Ireland.
