Can they improve on perfection?
There are certain films that JOE can watch for the 1,477th time and still laugh out loud despite knowing every single word, joke and punchline.
The Naked Gun trilogy featuring the late great Leslie Nielsen is one of those films and it seems like it’s the latest franchise that Hollywood plan on rebooting.
We’re not too sure if The Hangover star Ed Helms is quite as Dutch-Irish (but with a mother from Wales) or as fond of swimming in raw sewage like the iconic Frank Drebbin was but he’s the man earmarked to lead this new reboot.
Original director David Zucker was speaking with Yahoo News and said this about the new version, “It won’t be like the Naked Gun that I did. It may be good, but it won’t be that kind of movie. They’re going to use the title. They asked me if I wanted to produce. They’re nice people, but they don’t want to do that style of spoof that I do”.
It seems that the Airplane and Naked Gun director has a different opinion regarding the casting choice, “I would want somebody who had never been in an comedy. Ed Helms is very well known for three of the biggest comedies ever. I understand why Paramount is doing what they’re doing. If my name was on it, I would be making all sorts of suggestions and trying to change it, and it would be frustrating”
So what do you make of this news? We’re wondering if anyone alive can match this levels of comedic genius.
