JOE brings you the latest trailers in association with the good folk over at Magnet.
The Fifth Estate tells the fascinating story of fugitive activist Julian Assange and the news-leaking, non-profit website he founded, WikiLeaks.
Based partly on the memoirs of ex-WikiLeaks spokesman Daniel Domscheit-Berg, and partly on a novel by British investigative journalists David Leigh and Luke Harding, The Fifth Estate follows the growth of the organisation that Assange set up to collect and distribute classified information that was revealed to him by anonymous whistleblowers; information that affected everyone on earth.
The always excellent Benedict Cumberbatch, complete with distinctive Australian accent and horribly greasy blonde hair, plays Assange, the WikiLeaks founder who is still supposedly currently holed up in Ecuador.
The film is directed by Bill Condon, the man behind the final two installments of the, ahmm, Twilight franchise. Don’t let that put you off though, as far as we’re aware there are no sparkly vegetarian vampires in The Fifth Estate… we think.
And, although the trailer itself is very Hollywood, the appeal of Bennyballs Cabbagepatch acting alongside a brilliant supporting cast that includes Daniel Brühl, Laura Linney, Stanley Tucci and Peter Capaldi is way too good a combination to resist.
Plus, the entire story is essentially a real-life espionage thriller and you can’t beat that. Enjoy:
