“The noble quest is at hand…” and so is the latest teaser trailer.

As we’ve said before here on JOE, it really is time that we all just got over the fact that they’ve divided The Hobbit up into three films.

Instead, let’s just marvel at the beautiful footage that Peter Jackson and his fellow film Tolkienites have been releasing in the build up to the release of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, the epic sequel roaring (or boring, depending on which way you look at it) its way into Irish cinemas in December.

In the (paraphrased) words of Bo Selecta, can I getta recap?

As Thorin (Richard Armitage) and his company of courageous dwarves continue on their quest to reclaim their homeland from the evil dragon Smaug (Benedict Cumberbatch), they are accompanied by the plucky Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) who is now in possession of the One Rings

That’s the really, really, really evil piece of jewellery in case you were wondering.

Almost as evil as an engagement ring.

Picking up right where An Unexpected Journey left off, Peter Jackson’s sequel stars all of the first film’s familiar faces (Bilbo, Gandalf and Thorin) as well as some very welcome new ones including friend of JOE Luke Evans as Bard the Bowman, lovely LOST alumnus Evangeline Lilly as Tauriel, and Lord Of The Rings veteran (but The Hobbit newbie) Orlando Bloom as Legolas.

This latest trailer, while not really revealing too many new moments from the film, is pretty spectacular looking and serves as yet more proof that, yes, God did in fact photoshop New Zealand.

Enjoy:

The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug will be released in Irish cinemas on 13 December 2013.
