Can you say cha-ching?
It seems that the latest development in the Marvel Universe has just caused Harry Potter, Batman and Superman to unite in an epic quest to take on their biggest enemy.
Either that or the studio bosses in Warner Bros. just realised, “Hey we better start making some more great films like those Marvel guys are doing and earn lots of cash in the process.”
Warner’s CEO, Kevin Tsuijihara, has just announced a raft of upcoming titles for the studio and they’ve peaked our interest.
Starting with the comic book realm, we already knew that Batman and Superman will be having a heated debate over who looks better in tights in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
It’s fair to say that DC’s other characters haven’t translated as well to the silver screen yet, unlike their Marvel counterparts, but we have high hopes for The Flash (2018) featuring the very talented Ezra Miller, and Suicide Squad (2016) directed by David Ayer, he of the upcoming Brad Pitt WWII actioner Fury.
It seems that Batman v Superman will be the first step towards the inevitable Justice League movie which is set for release in 2017. We’re shocked.
Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Amy Adams will all be reprising their roles, while Zack Snyder has been announced as the director for the inevitable sequel to that one which comes out in 2019.
We imagine the Justice League films will make more than €10 at the box-office so this sequel is inevitable to us.
The wonderful welcoming world of Wonder Woman starring Gal Gadot comes to the big screen in 2017, while we presume Game of Thrones’ Khal Drogo, Jason Momoa , will be speaking Dothraki when he plays Aquaman (2018).
We’ll always prefer James Cameron’s version of Aquaman starring Vinnie Chase though.
These films seem like very safe, secure and smart bets in our opinion, but we need somebody who absolutely rocks as a leading man. Now who rocks? Oh yeah, The Rock looks set to star in Shazam (2019), while Cyborg (2020) and Green Lantern (2020) complete the comic book billing.
Ugh. We still get shakes from thinking about the Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern film, there’s 90 minutes of our life that we’ll never get back.
Away from the world of tights, superpowers and weird people now because everything is indeed awesome in the world of the Lego movies, because we all know that Batman will now have an adventure as a yellow block but we will now be getting Ninja Lego in Ninjago (2016) while the Lego Movie 2 comes out in 2018.
Harry Potheads will be delighted to know that the studio will also further explore J.K. Rowling’s mythology with three movies to be released in 2016, 2018 and 2020 based on her Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them book.
It seems that Jimmy and Johnny Warner aka Warner Brothers, will be going down the route of The Hobbit by turning a tiny book into an epic trilogy but money artistic pursuits will always win.
The first movie, which will be written by Rowling herself, is set to be directed by Potter veteran David Yates who made every film in that franchise from Order of the Phoenix all the way up to Death Hallows: Part Two, so we think he knows what he is doing.
*JOE finally exhales* Over to you now Marvel.
