There’s plenty here for Cillian Murphy fans also.
It’s very likely that quite a lot of film fans will be going to see Anthropoid when it’s released in Irish cinemas on September 9th because the WW2 drama features two of Ireland’s most talented actors , Cillian Murphy and Jamie Dornan.
Their new film is based on the extraordinary true story of Operation Anthropoid, the WWII mission to assassinate SS General Reinhard Heydrich, the main architect behind the Final Solution and the Reich’s third in command after Hitler and Himmler.
It has been 15 years since Cillian Murphy first came to our attention with his breakout role in Kirsten Sheridan’s feature length debut Disco Pigs and the Corkman has since solidified his status as a Hollywood A-lister with roles in The Dark Knight trilogy, The Wind That Shakes the Barley, Inception and most recently, Peaky Blinders.
Jamie Dornan has also had a meteoric rise after his starring role in Fifty Shades of Grey, but despite the remarkable celebrity of both men, they really couldn’t give a feck about fame.
Take a look as Ryan Tubridy asks the Belfast actor about how he manages to keep a low profile despite having a high profile job at the 16:00 mark.
There’s also some gems in here about how Cillian Murphy used George W. Bush as inspiration for Thomas Shelby and why Jamie Dornan’s friends couldn’t care less about his fame.
