Satellite television company Irish TV is planning on extending their hours, and bringing 150 new jobs into existence along the way

Mayo-based satellite television station Irish TV is planning a €15m expansion which will create 150 jobs, in a move that will see staff being hired across the country in order to generate content, according to RTÉ News.

With plans to broadcast to the States and Europe from May 1st, and as a result there will also be jobs with the station in Britain, Northern Ireland and the US, as well as 34 people employed in Westport, where the station has its headquarters.

There will be six hours of original content and programming on the station every day, and each of the 32 counties will get their own half-hour show called ‘County Matters’, bringing the local news to the masses. No word yet on whether this means Fair City will be going international or not, but we think Dáithí Ó Sé is about to finally become a global superstar.
