The warning will take effect later today.
Met Éireann has issued a new Status Yellow wind warning for 16 counties over “possible thunderstorms”.
Issued on Tuesday morning (10 January), the alert is set to be valid from 2pm to 7pm later that day.
It applies to the province of Leinster, as well as Cavan, Monaghan, Tipperary and Waterford.
“Becoming very windy or squally for a time today with isolated thunderstorms possible,” the alert reads.

Another Status Yellow warning for rain is currently in effect for all of Munster and Galway.
Valid until 3pm on Tuesday, this alert reads: “Spells of rain overnight and on Tuesday will be heavy at times leading to spot flooding.”

Meanwhile, Met Éireann’s national weather outlook for the next few days currently states: “Unsettled for the rest of the week and turning colder this weekend.”
