19-year-old arrested in connection with Cork murder

A teenager has been arrested this morning in connection with the murder of Aidan O’Driscoll.

O’Driscoll was shot dead in Blackpool, Cork, just over two years ago. He was 37 at the time.

According to An Garda Síochána, “a 19 year old male is scheduled to appear before The Special Criminal Court, CCJ, Dublin this morning charged in connection with the murder of Aidan O’Driscoll in Blackpool, Cork on the 7th December 2016. The male was arrested this morning in the Cork area”.

O’Driscoll was shot on Great William O’Brien Street, Blackpool, Cork on Wednesday 7 December 2016 at approximately 5pm.

O’Driscoll was alive at the scene, where he received medical assistance, and was taken to Cork University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Two other men have already been charged in the case.
