The body of a two-year old boy has been found after he was dragged into water by an alligator at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa in Florida on Tuesday night.

Lane Graves was playing in the water close to his family on the shoreline at the resort’s Seven Seas Lagoon when the alligator attacked him and dragged him into the water.

The boy’s father subsequently tried to grab his son from the alligator’s clutches but was unsuccessful in his attempt to do so.

After a report was made to police just after 9pm on Tuesday night, a search and rescue team spent hours trying to locate the child, while a dive-team with sonar equipment were also on standby as part of a 50-strong rescue team at the scene.

Boats, a helicopter and a number of police officers searched the area – and a body has now been recovered intact 10-15ft out.

The Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is located just one monorail stop away from Magic Kingdom Park and while there are no signs warning of alligators in the Seven Seas Lagoon, there are notices warning against swimming the man-made lake.
