A number of events took place in Dublin on Wednesday.
Twenty-one people were arrested on Wednesday in connection with public order offences and breaches of Covid-19 legislation in Dublin.
The arrests consisted of 17 men and four women.
Fourteen people appeared before a sitting of Dublin District Court at the Criminal Courts of Justice on Wednesday evening, while seven were charged and released on station bail.
Gardaí said there was an overwhelming compliance by the public in support of the current Public Health Regulations and Guidelines but that a number of events organised on social media had taken place with limited attendance.
“This has not been a normal St Patricks Day,” Deputy Commissioner, Policing and Security, Anne Marie McMahon said on Wednesday.
“I acknowledge the huge level of compliance and social responsibility demonstrated today.
“I appeal to the public to continue this effort into this evening, please do not engage in house gatherings or parties or congregate in public spaces and amenities.’
