2FM listeners disappointed over popular presenter’s absence from station

Kat O'Connor

Many 2FM listeners have admitted they’re changing stations.

2FM listeners have been left disappointed by the radio station’s new breakfast show with many calling for it to bring back Aifric O’Connell.

The national broadcaster introduced a new line-up for their breakfast show with Carl Mullan, Roz Purcell, and Aisling Bonner.

As excited as the trio were to launch the new morning show, some listeners were less than impressed with the line-up.

Others were so disappointed to see Aifric O’Connell not included in the new line-up that they admitted they’ll be changing stations.

One wrote: “Switched stations. Nothing against Roz or Aisling at all. Loved Roz in the afternoon with Graham and Emma. But Aifric breathed new life into the breakfast show and herself and Carl were great, so easy together.”

Another said, “Please bring back Aifric.”

“Listened to it this morning and turned it off after 10mins. Just not the same without Aifric,” another said.

“Whoever decided to let go of Aifric needs to go,” another added.

Aifric confirmed she was parting ways with 2FM in January.

Writing on Instagram, the presenter said it’s been a joy working on the 2FM Breakfast show.

“That’s a wrap on Breakfast. To the listeners, thank you so much for welcoming me into your mornings on rte2fm. It’s been a joy.

“To have had so many of you join us in my time on the show is something I’m very proud of. Your kindness over the last couple of weeks has been overwhelming.

“I saw it all, and I’m more grateful than I can say. You kept me afloat,” she added.
