36 new cases of Covid confirmed, no new deaths

36 new cases of the virus have been confirmed.

The Department of Health has announced that 36 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in the Republic of Ireland.

This is the highest number of new cases reported in a single day since 26 May.

No new deaths were reported on Tuesday (21 July), meaning that there has still been a total of 1,753 Covid-19 related deaths in Ireland.

Following the figures released on Tuesday, there has now been a total of 25,802 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Republic.

Meanwhile, for the eighth consecutive day, no further coronavirus deaths were recorded in Northern Ireland, with the official death toll there remaining at 556.

Two new cases were confirmed in the north.

The 36 new cases represents a significant increase in new cases from the figures reported on Monday, which only saw six new cases confirmed.

However, there is often a lower number of cases reported on Mondays.
