432 new Covid-19 cases confirmed, one new death

The latest figures have been released.

432 new Covid-19 cases have been confirmed, as well as one newly reported death.

There has now been a total of 1,811 Covid-19 related deaths in Ireland, while the country has seen 38,973 confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic.

111 of Tuesday’s cases are in Dublin, with 51 in Donegal, 41 in Cork, and 32 in Clare.

The remaining 197 cases are located across 20 counties.

There are currently 150 confirmed cases in hospitals across the country, with 24 confirmed cases in the ICU.

62% of today’s cases are people under 45 years of age, while 48% are confirmed to be associated with outbreaks or are close contacts of a confirmed case.

60 cases have been identified as community transmission.

Speaking on Tuesday evening,Tony Holohan, Chief Medical Officer, said: “It is essential that there is a broad societal effort over the coming weeks. Every one of us has the power to interrupt the spread of this virus and now is a vital time to use it.

“Focus on what you can do; wash your hands regularly, wear a face covering, keep your distance from others, avoid crowds, limit your social network, know the symptoms and what to do if you experience them or are a close contact of a confirmed case.”

Earlier on Tuesday, 669 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Northern Ireland, as well as one death.
