Sunday’s Covid-19 figures have been released.
66 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed, while no new deaths were recorded.
This brings the total number of cases that the Republic of Ireland has had to 27,257, while the death toll remains at 1,774.
21 of Sunday’s cases were found in Kildare, 16 in Dublin, six in Limerick, and the rest of the 23 cases are in Clare, Donegal, Laois, Louth, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly, Roscommon, Sligo, Tipperary, Wicklow.
According to figures released by the Department of Health, of Sunday’s cases:
- 67% are under 45 years of age
- 12 are confirmed to be associated with outbreaks or are close contacts of a confirmed case
- Three cases have been identified as community transmission
Acting CMO Ronan Glynn said: “The phased reopening of the country has afforded people the opportunity to socialise.
“However, some are doing this recklessly and undermining the efforts of the majority of people around the country… This cannot continue.
“This pandemic isn’t over just because we are tired of living with it.”
Earlier in the day, Taoiseach Micheál Martin described the current situation as “deeply concerning”, saying that the government will “continue to monitor the situation closely”.
