If only you could Hailo a plane.
We’ve all been in a situation where we almost miss a flight and it’s pretty damn scary because you definitely didn’t get travel insurance and a flight later in the day costs a fortune.
Situations like that can make people do some desperate things and a prime example is this Italian couple we’re about to tell you about.
Matteo Clementi and his girlfriend Enrica Apollonio were on holiday in Malta, and on the way to the airport to get their flight home, they were stuck in traffic for hours so they were late… very late.
The two eventually got to the airport, rushed through passport checks and the metal detectors, but when they got to their gate, the doors had closed and the plane was almost ready to take off.
Instead of accepting their fate and going for a pint, they calmly walked to the next gate, which was unguarded, burst trhough the security doors, ran onto the runway and tried to get the pilot’s attention.
They waved frantically at the pilot in a bid to make him stop and open the doors, just like you’d down to a taxi on a night out, but he didn’t and security then tackled them to the ground.
They were arrested and taken to jail for their actions and were warned with jail time before being let off with a €2,000 fine.
Moral of the story – Arrive early for flights and don’t be ridiculously stupid.
