Danny Healy-Rae earned plenty of ridicule for his proposal to bend the drink-driving rules for those in rural areas and this tweet pretty much sums up the feelings of the majority on the matter.
The Healy-Rae name is somewhat synonymous with controversy thanks to the deeds of Jackie and Michael in the past, but rarely has an idea attracted such a vociferous reaction as Danny’s motion to allow people in rural areas to have two or three drinks and drive home afterwards.
Ray D’Arcy was so angry at the suggestion that he hung up the phone on Healy-Rae on his radio show earlier this morning, while a tweet from the folks over at Hairy Baby T-Shirts earlier today seemed to sum up the feelings of most Irish people on the matter.
We imagine the garment will be a big seller if a t-shirt does ever make it onto the market.
