A LOT of people are falling for this fake Aer Lingus Facebook page competition

Alan Loughnane

It’s not the official Aer Lingus page folks…

A huge amount of people are being caught out by a fake Facebook competition run by a bogus Facebook page called Aer Lingus Ireland.

The page is in no way connected to the legitimate Aer Lingus Facebook page but has managed to fool over 17,000 people into thinking it is running a real competition.

The page was set up yesterday to imitate the airline’s Facebook page and ran a competition stating:

Fancy a week away?? For chance to win flights to any of the city’s below and 10,000€ spending money all you have to do is…

1) Like!
2) Comment what city!
3) Share!

Best Of Luck! – Aer Lingus Ireland

At the time of writing, the post had been share over 17,000 times as people leaped at the chance to win this amazing, fictional prize.

JOE reached out to Aer Lingus for comment who said that the page “is a fake and it’s been reported to Facebook”.

They expect to be removed shortly but until then, if you see it on your timeline, don’t fall for it…
