A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after Ireland’s first road death of the year

Tragic news.

A woman was killed in Hartstown, Co. Dublin this morning after being hit by a suspected drunk-driver, according to The Irish Times.

It was shortly after midnight when the woman, and another female pedestrian, were hit by a car. A man, who is reported to be in his 20s, has been arrested as a result of the incident.

The second victim is currently in a serious condition in Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown.

The Gardaií confirmed this fatality on their Twitter account this morning.
