Conor Heneghan

A man has been shot on Sheriff Street in Dublin.

The man, in his twenties, is believed to have been shot several times at close range outside a pub at approximately 12.30pm on Thursday afternoon.

UPDATE: The man who was shot on Sheriff Street this afternoon has died.

The man, who has yet to be identified, was rushed to the Mater Hospital after the incident but was declared this afternoon.

It has been speculated that the shooting was a case of mistaken identity and that the intended target – an associate of Derek ‘Del Boy’ Hutch – was involved in the shooting which led to the death of David Byrne at the Regency Hotel in Dublin in February.
