A Mayo taxi driver is doing something very sound for Leaving Cert students and for charity tonight

It’s a big day for the Leaving Cert class of 2015 today, all of whom will have received their results and will celebrate all the hard work they put in throughout the year tonight.

Every year, there is a concern that some students might go a little over the top with their celebrations, but for the second year in succession, a taxi driver from Ballyhaunis in Mayo has offered his help to try and ensure that everyone gets home safely.

Joe Freeley, who runs the Joe Maxi Taxi service, will provide free transport for Leaving Cert students this evening and instead of a fare, customers will be asked to provide voluntary contributions to Pieta House instead.

Joe received over €200 in charitable donations when running a similar initiative last year and he is encouraging fellow taxi drivers to do likewise this evening.

We hope others decide to follow his lead.
