Some very sad news about one of the men who started the viral internet trend…

One of the co-founders of the hugely popular ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has died after a tragic drowning accident over the weekend. Corey Griffin, who was instrumental in making the fundraising drive go viral, died after a diving accident off the coast of Nantucket, Massachusetts.

The 27-year-old got into difficulty after he dove off a wharf that serves as a popular diving spot for locals, resurfacing once before disappearing back under the waves and drowning.

The viral challenge has raised millions of dollars/euros/pounds for the different charities across the globe with massive names like George Bush, Rory McIlroy, David Beckham, Stephen Spielberg and countless others taking part.
