Terrible news emerging from the French capital this evening.
At least 18 people have been confirmed dead as a result of shootings and explosions in Paris this evening.
According to the BBC, a number of explosions occurred near the Stade de France, where the French football team were in action against Germany this evening, while at least one gunman is said to have opened fire in a restaurant in the city.
Hostages have also been taken at Paris Bataclan concert hall and preliminary reports suggest that at least 18 people have been killed as a result of tonight’s events.

President Francois Hollande, meanwhile, is believed to have been moved to safety having been in attendance at the France v Germany match at the Stade de France this evening.
