At least 30 Dublin Bus routes to be redirected as a result of cross-city Luas plans

Carl Kinsella

Transport through Dublin is set for major changes as plans for a cross-city Luas will necessitate the permanent redirection of at least 30 Dublin Bus routes.

The plans, which also include a pedestrianised plaza in front of Trinity College’s Front Arch, have been put out for public consultation until May 24.

According to RTÉ, provisions will be made for buses that currently pass through College Green. Some buses will be able to turn around before reaching the Bank of Ireland building.

Other measures will see Parliament St become two-way for buses only and Capel St bridge will have a contra-flow bus lane.

Among the bus routes expected to be affected are the 49, 40, 13 and many more.
